Farmacy Food

During my Summer 2021 internship with the Detroit Neighborhood Entrepreneurs Project, my cross-disciplinary team developed branding guides, assets, and congruent social media strategies for small business clients based out of Detroit. Our main client, Farmacy Food, is a wellness food and lifestyle provider aiming to make healthy foods more accessible.

Serving as the sole business student on the team, I was the principal liaison between our team, our business advisors, and the clients. Through this role, I learned how to translate ideas and messages across people of different professional backgrounds and communicate the time and skill requirements of contrasting work. Processing client feedback also constituted much of my growth in brand design. As a creative, understanding what the client wants past what they're telling you was the biggest lesson from this internship. Whether it's implementing the right information in an aesthetic way on websites or designing brand elements for packaging and digital, I have built my skills in communicating brand values and personalities effectively through design.

Being on a team alongside students from across the university taught me new ways to connect with people of different backgrounds and work more effectively across disciplines. I am grateful for the positive learning environment created within my team, as they taught me how to be a more flexible team member and see things from multiple perspectives.
